Accu-Chek Performa Test Strips: Your Partner in Diabetes Management

Understanding Accu-Chek Performa Test Strips

Accu-Chek Performa Test Strips are designed to work seamlessly with Accu-Chek Performa blood glucose meters, providing an efficient solution for managing diabetes. This compact system offers convenience, allowing users to check blood glucose levels anytime and anywhere with simplicity and reliability.

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a chronic condition characterized by high blood glucose levels. In the UK, 90% of adults with diabetes have type 2 diabetes, where the body either resists the effects of insulin or doesn't produce enough to maintain normal glucose levels. Insulin is a vital hormone that helps regulate blood sugar, and managing these levels is crucial for people with diabetes.

How Do Accu-Chek Performa Test Strips Work?

These test strips function by reacting with glucose oxidase, a chemical in your blood. When a blood sample is applied to the strip, it reacts to form gluconic acid. The Accu-Chek meter then uses an electrical pulse to measure this acid, providing an accurate reading of your blood glucose level.

Compatible Accu-Chek Meters

Accu-Chek Performa Test Strips are compatible with both the Accu-Chek Performa and Accu-Chek Performa Nano blood glucose meters. This compatibility ensures that users have access to reliable testing options that fit their specific devices.

Blood Sample Requirement

To use these strips, you will need to obtain a small blood sample. This can be done by pricking your fingertip or another area like the palm, upper arm, or forearm using a lancet or finger pricker.

How to Use Accu-Chek Performa Test Strips

To conduct a blood glucose test:

  1. Preparation: Wash and dry your hands thoroughly.
  2. Insert Strip: Take a test strip from its container and insert it into the meter following the arrows until the meter beeps.
  3. Draw Blood: Use a lancing device to draw a drop of blood from your fingertip.
  4. Apply Blood: Touch the end of the test strip to the blood drop.
  5. Reading Results: The meter will beep and flash to indicate enough blood has been applied. Within 5 seconds, your blood glucose result will appear on the display.

These steps ensure that the testing process is straightforward, delivering accurate results to help manage diabetes effectively.

Enhancing Diabetes Management

Accu-Chek Performa Test Strips are an integral part of a comprehensive diabetes management plan. By providing accurate blood glucose readings, they empower users to make informed decisions about their health, helping to maintain better control over their condition.
